The official list, location trends, two independent trackers with history, Google Trends, and a free morning paper that recaps tech Twitter with jokes.

What's trending on X right now sits in the Explore tab of the app and in the Trends box on x.com, tailored to you unless you choose a place. For anything that list leaves out, such as last night's peaks, another country, or tech Twitter's day told with jokes, these six places cover it.

1. TechTwitter IO, for tech Twitter's day

Start here if your feed is mostly developers, founders and AI labs. TechTwitter IO is a free satirical newspaper of tech Twitter, printed fresh every morning. The front page takes the biggest story, The Timeline catches the smaller fights, and Page 404 runs a feud tracker. Boxes such as Ratio of the Day and Main Character of the Day sum up who had a rough afternoon, and the Fun & Games section at the back has puzzles like Twordle and Who Tweeted It?

The paper is open about being satire. Unless a post links to its source, the people and quotes in it are parody or invented. Read it for the recap and the laughs, and keep citations for the real sources below.

2. X's own list, for the official view

X's own Trends section is the real thing. An algorithm picks topics that are popular at the moment rather than always popular, and by default it fits the list to who you follow, your interests and where you are. Some entries carry a category, a rough post count or a short headline X adds to explain the spike.

Switch off tailoring and pick a country or city to see what people there are posting about. On x.com, click Change in the Trends box. In the app, look for Explore settings under Settings and privacy. A missing city means X has too few posts from that area to build a list.

4. trends24.in, for the last 24 hours

This independent site, which says it has tracked X trends for over a decade, lays out the worldwide list hour by hour. A table view gives each topic's top position, post count and how long it lasted, and country pages work the same way. A paid archive covers older data.

5. getdaytrends.com, for going back in time

Another independent tracker, it lists trends by the hour and adds one-click pages for yesterday, a week ago, a month ago and a year ago, or any date you pick. Side lists rank the day's top hashtags, the most posted topics and the longest-running ones.

The Trending Now page on Google Trends shows rising searches, not posts. Comparing the two tells you whether people are only talking about something on X or also looking it up.

Which one to open

You want Open
Tech Twitter's last day, with punchlines TechTwitter IO
What X shows you right now Explore tab
Another country or city Location trends
What peaked overnight trends24.in
A date last week or last year getdaytrends.com
What people search, not post Google Trends

One honest caveat: if all you need is the official list for one place, the Explore tab is enough and quicker than any tracker. For everything tech Twitter argued about since yesterday, the morning edition is the shorter read.
