Tweet notifications by channel: phone, browser, email or Slack

X sends tweet notifications to its phone app for accounts you follow. For email, Slack, a browser or tweets about a subject, a monitor like AyeWatch does the job.

For tweet notifications on your phone, follow the account, tap the notification icon on its profile and choose All posts. For anything beyond that, such as email, Slack, a browser without the X app, or tweets about a subject rather than from one person, X has no setting, and an AyeWatch X monitor is the simplest way to get them.

Start with where you want the ping

You want new tweets... Can X do it? How
On your phone, from someone you follow Yes Notification icon on their profile, then All posts
On your phone, from someone you don't follow No AyeWatch profile monitor, push in its app
In a browser Partly X's help page lists replies, mentions, likes, follows, reposts and messages for web alerts; per-person post alerts are an app setting
By email Partly X emails you about activity on your own account, often as a digest
In Slack or Discord No AyeWatch on a paid plan
Whenever anyone tweets a word No AyeWatch search monitor

The pattern is clear: X built its alerts around your own account and the app on your phone. Everything else needs a tool that reads X for you.

The phone route, in short

On iPhone, open the profile of an account you follow, tap the notification icon and pick All posts, or Only posts with live video if broadcasts are all you care about. On Android the same icon opens a box called Account notifications; tick it and choose All posts or Only live video.

If nothing arrives, go to your profile icon, then Settings and privacy, Notifications, Preferences, Push notifications, and make sure posts is switched on. To stop them, tap the highlighted icon on the profile and choose None.

One quirk is worth knowing. Muted words don't apply to these alerts, so a followed account's tweets still come through even when they contain a word you muted.

The everywhere-else route

AyeWatch reads public X posts on a schedule and sends what's new. You set it up once in the web app or the iOS and Android apps:

  • One person's tweets: choose X, then Profile, and paste the full link, such as https://x.com/nasa. A bare @handle won't work. You don't follow the account, and it can't see the monitor.
  • Tweets about something: choose Search and type an X query, such as "apple vision" lang:en -giveaway.
  • Only the tweets that matter: add a line under Only alert me about, such as "new product launches only". AI reads each post and skips the rest.

Each alert shows the tweet's text and a link to it on X, and several new tweets from one check come as one message. Push and the in-app feed are on every plan. Paid plans, from $9 a month, add email, Slack, Discord and webhooks. A free preview needs no card.

Which one to use

Keep X's own bell for a few accounts you already follow and want on your phone the moment they post. AyeWatch checks on a schedule, so it is not the pick for seconds-fast alerts, and it can't see protected accounts or DMs. For anything that should land in an inbox, a team channel or a browser tab, or for tweets about a topic instead of a person, AyeWatch is the better fit.
