Reddit user RSS feed: follow someone's posts or comments

Three feed addresses follow one Reddit account. AyeWatch can alert you when that account posts, without a reader.

A Reddit user RSS feed comes in three flavors: /user/NAME/submitted/.rss for the posts someone makes, /user/NAME/comments/.rss for their comments, and /user/NAME/.rss for both mixed together. Put any of them after https://www.reddit.com and your feed reader follows that account. If you only want to hear when that person posts something new, an AyeWatch user monitor sends the alert without a reader.

We tested all three on a well-known public account on November 4, 2026.

The three user feeds

Feed Address What our test returned
Overview https://www.reddit.com/user/NAME/.rss 25 items, posts and comments together, titled "overview for" the user
Posts https://www.reddit.com/user/NAME/submitted/.rss 24 items, only posts the user submitted
Comments https://www.reddit.com/user/NAME/comments/.rss 25 items, only comments

A few details matter here. Write /user/, not the /u/ shorthand: our /u/ request answered with a redirect rather than a feed, and some readers do not follow redirects. Use the www host for the same reason. Each entry carries the full text of the post, so you can read long announcements right in the reader.

Which one to pick

Posts only is the one most people want. It is quiet, since most accounts post far less than they comment, and it catches announcements, patch notes and write-ups.

Comments only suits a person whose value is in replies: a developer who answers questions in their game's community, or an expert who rarely starts threads.

Overview is the fullest view, but on an active account the comments push posts out fast. The feed holds 25 items, so a busy commenter can bury a post within hours.

Where user feeds fall short

  • Rate limits. Reddit sent us HTTP 429 errors when we asked for feeds in quick succession. A reader that checks many accounts from one place will see this.
  • Blocked tools. A request with a plain command-line user agent got a 403 page.
  • Old Reddit. Feeds on old.reddit.com now send you to a login page.
  • Logins may spread. Reddit's CEO wrote on October 29, 2026 that Reddit will move to a mostly logged-in experience, testing first outside the U.S. Feeds were not mentioned, so it is unclear whether they will be affected.
  • No filter. You get every item, even when you only care about one subject.

Get a ping when the user posts

For many people the goal is simple: know when a particular account posts again. Following them on Reddit puts posts in your home feed, but that is easy to miss.

AyeWatch handles this with a Reddit user monitor. Paste the profile link, and if you like, add a rule such as "posts about a new release". AI reads each new post and alerts you only on the ones that fit. The alert has the title, the text and a link to the thread. It reads the public profile, so you do not follow the person and they are not told. Alerts reach the AyeWatch feed and phone push on every plan, with email, Slack, Discord and webhooks on paid plans. You can try it free without a card, and paid plans start at $9 a month.

The trade-off: AyeWatch tracks posts, not comments. If the comments are what you want, the comments feed above is the better choice, and nothing stops you from running both.
