Best Buy Drops: how the app-only deals work, and how to watch the rest
Drops come with their own alert inside the Best Buy app. Regular listings do not, which is where a page watch helps.

Best Buy Drops are limited-quantity deals sold only inside the Best Buy app, listed ahead of time, with an optional alert shortly before each one goes live. They only help when the item you want is in one, though. For the TV, laptop or console you are already eyeing on bestbuy.com, a watch on the product page itself does more, and AyeWatch is the easy way to set one: paste the link, say what you are waiting for, and get a short note when it happens.
What a Drop is
Best Buy's own explainer on Drops gives the rules in a few lines:
- Drops live only in the Best Buy app, on iOS and Android.
- Every dropped item comes in limited quantities, so speed matters.
- You need a free Best Buy account to use the app.
- In the app you can browse upcoming Drops and tap the bell to turn on Drop Alerts. A notification then arrives shortly before an item you favorited goes live.
That is a neat system for one kind of sale. If the deal you want is a Drop, use Best Buy's alert: Drops are sold only in the app, and AyeWatch reads public web pages, not app screens.
Drops versus everything else
| Best Buy Drops | Regular Best Buy listings | |
|---|---|---|
| Where you buy | Best Buy app only | Website, app or store |
| How much stock | Limited quantities | Varies by product |
| Advance notice | Drop Alerts before go-live | None published |
| How to get alerted | Opt in with the bell in the app | Best Buy app alerts, or a page watch such as AyeWatch |
Most of what people wait for at Best Buy sits in the right-hand column: a price cut on a specific model, or a sold-out item coming back.
Watching a regular listing
Best Buy's app offers product alerts for price drops and promises notices on restocks, and for casual shopping that is fine. A page watch is better when you want to set the terms yourself.
With AyeWatch, open the exact product, copy its URL and write a rule in normal words, for example "Ping me if this drops below $599 or comes back in stock." It checks at an Auto pace or an interval you pick, and each alert is a sentence about what changed rather than a generic deal blast. Push and the in-app feed work on every plan; paid plans can also send email or post to Slack or Discord.
A price alert has a second use at Best Buy. Its Price Match Guarantee says Best Buy will match its own lower price during the return and exchange period, which is 15 days for most products on the standard plan, and most holiday purchases from Oct. 30 to Dec. 31 can be matched through Jan. 15. A watch on something you already bought tells you when to ask.
The short version
Turn on Drop Alerts for Drops. Watch everything else at the page level. AyeWatch has a free preview with no credit card, and paid plans start at $9 a month as of November 2026.
